The ecommerce sector is continuously growing, and according to data provided by Fernando Barrios, commercial director of Seur International, it is estimated that the countries with the highest economic growth rates in e-commerce are those with larger populations.
Poland, Germany and Russia are expected to be the most relevant countries due to the large dimension and importance of e-commerce within the big cities of these countries.
Furthermore, countries in Eastern Europe and Russia have large populations and are experiencing a growth of about 40% in the online sector, although countries like the UK, France and Italy are also relevant in terms of potential growth.
Taking a look at Spain, e-commerce has increased its sales by 24.8% in the first quarter of 2017, reaching a new historical high of 6,757 million euros.
In his interview with Europa Press, Barrios declared that approximately 84% of internet purchases come exclusively from a section of the population which includes both Millenials and adults between the ages of 35 and 50 with a higher purchasing power and a certain degree of maturity as far as ecommerce is concerned.
The messaging and parcel sector at a global level faces an unprecedented challenge when it comes to balancing the costs of different goods and services. With this data, it is expected that the transport sector will adopt a key and decisive "role" in serving an ever-growing market.
